RVSM Training

Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum is the airspace every operator wants to be in; fuel-efficient, on a direct route, above the weather. This course gets pilots there with the precision that 1,000 feet of separation actually demands. Best when paired with the Sky Safety Solutions RVSM Manual.

Who This Course Is For

Pilots, programs, and operations heading into the high.

From a single owner-pilot adding RVSM to a new tail, to a multi-aircraft flight department keeping a dozen pilots current, the course scales to the size of the operation behind it.

First-Time Operators

Operations adding RVSM to a new aircraft, or pilots stepping up to a turbine that lives above FL290. The course covers the equipment, the paperwork, and the procedures end-to-end, without assuming a decade of experience flying in the high.

Recurrent Pilots

Pilots who already live above FL290 but need to keep currency clean. Use 365 days of unlimited access to drop into a single module before a contract trip, or run the full course as a recurrent block when the cycle comes around.

Owner-Pilots

Single-pilot Part 91 operators running their own program. The course is built for pilots who don't have a check airman down the hall, just an autopilot, a cross-check, and a clearance that has to be flown right the first time.

Flight Departments

Corporate flight departments running multiple crews on multiple tails. Standardize the training, standardize the manual, standardize what every pilot reaches for when ATC calls, with a Manager account in the DO's hands to track it.

Course Philosophy

Precision starts with knowing where to look.

RVSM operations look quiet from the outside. Most of the time, the autopilot holds, the altimeter reads what it should, and the trip writes itself. But the moment something doesn't go to plan, an equipment failure, a weather deviation, a TCAS RA at FL370, your pilot needs an answer in the seconds it takes ATC to ask for one.

This course is built around the Sky Safety Solutions RVSM Manual — the same document your pilots will fly with. Rather than drilling procedures into memory, we teach how the manual is laid out, where each contingency lives, and how to read what's there fast. The result is a flight deck that doesn't have to remember everything. It just has to know where to look.
Course Coverage · Maintenance Release to Height Monitoring

Where the discipline shows up, phase by phase.

RVSM is mostly cross-checks and equipment status — until it isn't. The course traces the operation in the order it actually happens, from the airworthiness paperwork that confirms RVSM eligibility to the height monitoring data your operation owes the FAA after the trip closes.

Pre-Flight & Equipment

Maintenance log review, RVSM equipment status, MEL items affecting altitude-keeping capability, and the altimeter cross-check that ends the conversation about whether the airplane is ready.

Filing & Clearance

Domestic and ICAO flight plan format, RVSM equipment codes, and how to file so the clearance you receive matches the trip you planned to fly. With the ICAO twists that domestic-only operators run into the first time.

Entering & Operating in RVSM

The climb-through, the ATC handoff, hourly altimeter cross-checks, autopilot discipline, wake encounters in the high, and the lateral and vertical offsets that keep you legal and separated.

Contingencies & Deviations

Equipment malfunction, autopilot failure, weather deviation, loss of altitude-keeping capability, TCAS RA response, and the ATC phraseology to match.

Post-Flight & Records

Height monitoring, deviation reporting, training records, and the closing paperwork that decides how easily the next FSDO visit, the next audit, and the next LOA renewal go.
